What Did You Think of Bones This Week?

Between Zooey Deschanel's long-awaited guest spot and several shots of David Boreanaz' perfect pecs, there wasn't much to complain about in last night's episode of Bones, "The Goop on the Girl." Or was there? I enjoyed watching Brennan (Emily Deschanel) continue to abandon logic and reason in favor of sympathy and emotion. Zooey's character, Margaret, helped to bring out that new side of Brennan, though I expected to see a lot more of Margaret than what we were given. Here's what users are  saying about the episode:

welnoc: I really doubt that anyone, having just buried the person who means the most to them in the world, would want to sit down for Christmas dinner with a bunch of strangers. Kind strangers, but strangers nonetheless. Some people believe that grieving is a private matter. I really didn't see the point of having Zooey guest star when her part was so small. Anyone would have done although I suppose diehard fans might enjoy the in-joke.

IrigD: Well, this episode was cool. From the promos I didn't really like Zooey Deschanel's character but by the end of the episode I kind of did, funny how that can change in one hour ... I didn't hear the car scene verbatim but Brennan looked ready to cry ... I felt sorry for her. And Booth (Boreanaz) as evidence ... I'm sure that scene will be in our heads for awhile.

utgotye: I was pleasantly surprised to see Temperance become seeming more open to the idea of marriage, to the point that she would probably give it at least some consideration with the right person. I was initially worried that she might be "evolving" too much, but the fact is that this is the result of the process that began soon after the series started, but especially after "The Verdict in the Story." She's still the same person, the brilliance, the rationality, the I-am-far-more-intelligent-than-you-could-ever-hope-to-be-plus-I-can-kick-your-ass-no-problem attitude/confidence (though we haven't seen this as much of late) are all still there. The biggest thing seems to be that she's accepted (or is in the process of doing so) the fact that logic and reason are not the end all and be all and that there might actually be more to life and the world that what can be empirically observed. It's not a drastic change so much as it is a renewal or restoration. If her abandonment(s) led to the shifts in her personality, it's only logical to assume that she was a warmer, more open, more accepting person beforehand. I am very curious to see how far the writers take the process. Also, if the past is an indicator, now is about the time the writers would have Temperance do something that just makes you scratch your head, like having sex with Hacker.

danisj: I loved it! It was a great Christmas episode... Bones style. I liked the music and how the case was a big part of the episode ... It's good to see Brennan's character is evolving as well, and how she turns to Booth for advice ... Zooey was good in it, too ... Maybe we'll see Margaret again ... and I just wanna add this was one of my favorite episodes ever!
