The world's fascination with Slumdog Millionaire continues, with the film crossing the $300 million mark in worldwide box office and the news that one of its stars witll join the cast of 24 for its eighth season.
Anil Kapoor, who plays the host of the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the film, "will star as a Middle Eastern leader who comes to the U.S. on a peacekeeping mission," according to Yahoo!, and he's the first casting announcement for next year's arc of the show. The current season will wrap up on May 18th on Fox.
Though most American audiences only came to know Kapoor through the most recent Best Picture winner, Kapoor has a 30-year career in India spanning over 100 titles. It's the latest in an already long line of post-Slumdog casting news for the cast, including Dev Patel joining the cast of Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender and Freida Pinto signing on for upcoming films by Woody Allen and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly director Julian Schnabel.
